Mad GPRS and Axim

Is there a GPRS card available for the Axim that I can use an existing SIM card on?

There is one, I think, and it connects to your CF slot. I will try and find out the name a web address for you.

sorry for the butt in but i'm curious as to what that is, and how it works. from my little understanding of this sim and simless thing... i would have to assume that thats a CF card that can be used on any wireless network (verizon, att, cingular). is this correct?

Works with AT&T, T Mobile and Cingular in the USA - They are the three GSM providers in the USA

First of all, you should look inside your phone to see if you have a sim card to place inside the compact flash card adapter...If you do i think your good to go...just a guess tho =( (The sim card is a little tiny thumbnail card usually behind the battery that you should be able to remove) Hope this was some help =)

more about sim cards please... since we dont see them too often in the US. i am just beginning to learn about them. i know that we do HAVE them, but only cingular, and t mobile i think. so, i get a phone with a sim card (I was thinking the T68i or T610). can i get one straight from the tmobile company? or do i have to get one "unlocked" from the factory. i am looking for a bluetooth phone i can use when i travel to europe of other places. as well as here in the US. i dont think we have a sim network avalible on the east coast, so i'm alittle confused.

Poppajohn,

If noone has replied to you, here goes. AT&T also has GSM (sim card phones). I think about 90% of their phones now are GSM. I personally have been using a Siemens S46 for the past year and have been extremely impressed. No color screen, but internet, email and the triple GSM network (i.e., you can go virtually anywhere in the world). Wife and I just got back from Puerto Vallarta - when we arrived there, my Siemens instantly picked up Mex Telcel (the only thing I was not able to do is receive data in PV). Another good thing about the Siemens (besides the price) is that it also has the digital network option. So, if you are in an area like Sonoma, CA where GSM right now is marginal, the phone automatically switches to TDMA. Hope it is helpful, also I use the phone to link my Ax to internet via Infrared.

I'm not an employee of AT&T nor Siemens. Just like the phone and service. Siemens did just release the S56 for AT&T (which is a color screen, but does not have TDMA capability)

right this may have been answered, I didn't read the last couple of posts but anyway this GPRS thing does work in the UK, best network I can find is 02, also a SIM card is a little chip that holds information like ur network and number, ur phone book etc.

Hmm

I hope this will help. A SIM card is provided by the mobile company (Vodafone, T-Mobile, etc in the UK) to connect to the network and also provides storage for data like telephone nombers. etc. Now, you can get CF cards that accomodate SIM cards. In the UK GPRS connectivity can be achieved through the same companies, namely, Vodafone, Orange, etc.
Now, a small question. Where can I buy screen protectors for the Axim5 in the UK?
Cheers.

www.pocketpctechs.com sells a very good brand. WriteShield. I'm still on my first one after 3 months.
