Axim accessories update. Just to share my own experiences. Approximately one week ago, I ordered the Seidio, Inc. 2-in-1 charger, which has an automobile and wall plug adaptor built-in. I chose this, over the ebcases travel charger kit, as it was available for shipping immediately. (Both cost about $39.00)

I received the Seidio charger after about 5 days. BUT, when I went to use it, it didn't fit. The adapter plug for the Axim was too short and I was NOT happy. I immediately fired off an email and complained that I was going to return it, since it didn't do what it was designed to do.

That afternoon I received a telephone message at my office. The rep was extremely apologetic and explained that they sent me the wrong plug. She said I should return the one I got, and they would credit my account for the shipping once they received it, and then they would ship out the correct charger.

I called back the next morning and left a voicemail message at the direct number the rep had left for me, and told them that I appreciated their call, but wanted them to send me the correct charger first, with a prepaid envelope for me to return the incorrect one to them, and that I shouldn't have to pay for anything more since it was their mistake.

That afternoon I received an email from Seidio telling me the the correct unit was on the way with a prepaid envelope for my incorrect one.

I received the new unit today, about 3 days after I go the first one. I am pretty happy, as it seems to work fine. I am VERY impressed with the way they handled their mistake. I don't mind the mistake, in light of their prompt and professional response.

On another note, my wife also ordered an EBCases slipper for the Axim on about 12/26/02. It was a preorder, as it was new product and they didn't have any on hand yet. I just got an email that it was shipped yesterday. I'm hopeful that the case will be as nice as it looks on the web site.

I'll keep you posted after it arrives and after using the Seidio car/home charger for a while.

Got the correct/replacement Axim 2-in-1 charger. (For car and home.) Works like a charm. After a minor glitch on the initial order (see above), the company did a really good job of fixing their mistake.

I am happy with my overall experience and would be very comfortable dealing with them in the future.

After reading all the prior posts on this subject, may I add another wrinkle (question)? I have a Targus Universal Auto/Air Power adapter with tips for my IBM laptop and a tip purchased for my old Cassiopeia. When I purchased the Axim last month, I called Targus to see if they had a tip for the Dell which the didn't at that point. I paid approx. $100 for the Targus gear. Now my questions:

1. Is the Radio shack unit or the same thing:

>>Go to Radio Shaq, Best Buy, CompUSA or where ever and spend $39.95 and buy a power inverter. Then you can charge your Axim, cell phone, power a printer, your electric shaver, coffee pot. Throw away all those "car cords"<<

2. Will the Seido charger handle more than the Axim?

>>the Seidio, Inc. 2-in-1 charger, which has an automobile and wall plug adaptor built-in. <<

3. How do these products differ from one announced by Juice but not yet available for $119

http://www.igo.com/mapfiles/juice.asp

I am trying to maximize the dollars I have already invested, but am desparate to stop carrying around 10 lbs of power cords when travelling, especially with the new limits on luggage weight on the airlines.

Thanks for your input in advance

Your suggestion of the inverter is a good one, but only if someone wants to lug around a 1 pound block and still have all the various charging adapters for their Axim, cell phone, etc. And $39.95 is high to just get a "universal charger". Now if you do need a coffee pot and a shaver in your car, then that's another story.

Not familiar with the Seidio charger.

$119 for the deal from Juice is outrageous!

The $15 charger I got at Radio Shack works fine with my Axim, cell phone, portable CD player (don't need anymore) and only weighs a few ounces. One cord and some interchangable tips is all I need.
