Awesome new gizmo: Lexar JumpDrive Trio
I've been in the market for one of those USB flash drives to transfer large files between home, work, and school computers. After looking around E-bay and electronics stores I had just about settled on a 128mb model from Lexar media that Wal-Mart has for approx. $35. Well tonight I was browsing around a bit before buying the unit and came across this:
http://www.everythingusb.com/hardwar...pdrivetrio.jpg

It's great! It's basically a USB interface for SD, MMC, or memory stick storage cards. I already have a 256mb SD card for my Ax, which I carry on me at all times. When I need to transfer large files I just pop out the SD card, slip it into the JumpDrive, and plug into the USB port on the computer. It's an extremely handy device especially since it was less than $20! I hope somebody else may get some use out of this also.

Now you have me interested in the Jump Drive Trio. Buy.com has it for $14.89 at:

Quite a deal for a device that has many convenient uses!

no free shipping though....

i still highly highly highly highly recommend the Trio to everybody. I have a SimpleTech Bonzai USB minidrive, which is basically the same thing but smaller. i keep it on my keychain. it's absolutely awesome--it lets me interface with both my computer and all the dells at my university in a jiffy. (they all have front panel USB) no IR devices required, no stupid activesync required, all i have to do is take my SD out of my axim, stick it in the Bonzai, and stick the bonzai into the desktop and voila, i can print stuff i wrote on my axim, or download something and save it to my SD, or anything else that you would do with a regular floppy disk (except with hundreds of times the storage space, depending on your card).

these flash memory card-keys seriously double the value of a pocket pc, especially in a university environment where there are computers all over the place that have no other way of communicating with a ppc except through a card reader. that's where a USB key comes in super-handy because it easily fits on a keychain and it goes everywhere with me.

the Trio has a major advantage over the bonzai (or the sandisk cruzer, which is bigger than both of them and not many people seem to like) because it supports USB 2.0, while the bonzai is 1.1. the trio is also available ala carte. It doesnt have a keyring loop though, and my pocket space is at a premium so i went with the Bonzai.

I really dont understand why more people dont have these things--they are so awesome.

looks great
Fantastic,
Only I can't buy one, because I live overseas! Why is it that in this electronic age companies don't have enough vision to expect overseas demand?? Haven't seen one of these in OZ, and if I did it would be $200.

I'm with Astounded EEG on this. The trio is a great device that really leverages the capabilities of your Axim. Plus they're so cheap!

I just ordered this yesterday and it showed up on my doorstep today! I have to agree its a very handy device. I was going to get a card reader but it looks like this'll do the job just fine.

none of these memory card USB keys are very new, by the way....the Trio came out in like February and the Bonzai seems to have been out for a year or two, along with the Cruzer....

(the Bonzai was updated though, a few months back...it used to be blue and have a much shorter neck, and LED only on one side.)

I have a Trio - They've been around for a while now. Got mine at CompUSA for $15, but London Drugs up here in Canada now carries them at a fair equivalent price.

It works very well and is USB2, so it's fast. The fact that the SD/MMC/MS goes inside and is protected by the case is nice - you can leave the card in all the time and only remove it when you need to swap it into your Axim.

Since it's USBAT compliant, most systems don't even need drivers for it - just plug in and boom, it's up.

My only complaints: It's a wee bit large, but nothing horrible - and the USB plug cap isn't attached, so you have remember not to leave it behind. Other than that, it's a great device as a great price.

The Trio has been one of my favorite purchases. Now I need to get another SD so I can leave it in the Trio all the time and use it as my primary jump drive.

This is a great item. At work I can't connect my PPC to the computer (they still are in the dark ages) but I can use the USB port and since there is no software needed I can transfer files and download items instantly. I am thinking of getting a second one in case this one ever breaks.

Can't say enough good!

isn't it a bit bulky?

this one is nice, but it's $48 + $7ish shipping = $55. it does come with 128MB built-in memory as well as the CF slot though. (there is also a 256MB version.)

you could also try this, but it's huge...

this one is cheaper but still big

hard to do searches for this stuff because 90% of the results are just conventional USB thumbdrives.

Astounded EEG,
The Twin Drive looks awesome but a bit pricey. Found this that claims they have a 16mb version which should be alot cheaper but I cannot find it for sale.

I bought the JumpDrive Trio from Compusa but the only thing I did not like about it was you could not hook it to a key ring, so I drilled a small hole and connected it to my keys and it works great. I will post a pic when I get a chance.
