Will USA X3i work in UK?

Does anybody know.

I'll be in the US for a while and thought I could get one, but not sure if voltage is going to be a problem.

Has anyone tried/anyone know

Mine came with a power supply that was 110-240v 50-60hz

I had a replacement due to wireless issues and the power supply with that one was also 110-240 V. Originally ordered the CAR adapter cause original online specs said power supply was only 110V, luckily adapter was delayed and I cancelled when Axim arrived. Also plan to buy Boxwave min sync soon and theire USB to AC adapter that is also 110-240 V

What part of Scotland are you in?
I am in Aberdeen at the moment; I go back to Canada via the US at the end of next week. I return to sunny Aberdeen in January.

Now to the question.
I’m not sure about the X3, but the X5 comes with a power supply that will accept 110V to 240V. You will need a plug adapter or (if it is like the X5) a replacement power cable. These can be obtained for a few pounds from almost any electronics store in whatever country you are in. You may find that somewhere like Maplins sell them here. I prefer replacement cables to adapters, they are smaller, lighter and I feel they are safer.
Another alternative (which I favour) is the USB power cable. This is a cable that takes power from a USB port and uses it to charge your Axim. The charge rate is a lot slower but it is OK for trickle charge overnight. They are also not too good at charging from near flat so best to charge often. You can also get Mains to USB power converters; these are available from Maplins (I have one).
I travel with USB cables for my mobile and Axim and carry a mains/USB just incase there isn’t a computer handy.

I assume from your post you are thinking of buying an Axim in the USA and taking it back to Scotland. Remember that if you tell the customs people about it they will want VAT. Also Dell sell my mail order, do you have a US address that they will deliver to. Normally they will only deliver to the address on the credit card.

If you go this route, be careful when it comes to dealing with some of the people who work at outlets like Maplins. I recently bought a travel charger for my X5 from a company in the States as the price was good. When I went to Maplins for a 2-pin to 3-pin adaptor, the assistant tried to sell me a voltage transformer for £20.

Obviously, I didn't need a transformer since just as the Axim works with voltages from 110-240V, the adaptor works with 100-250V.

I got a simple shaver adaptor for £1.75 locally and it works just fine.

Thanx Synth & GarryKnight

Yeah I had come to the conclusion that as the power supply was 110-240v that I wouldn't have a problem other than the 2 to 3 pin thing and I guessed this would be solved by either Maplins/RS components or someone somewhere.
Synth - I'm near Edinburgh and having already had C&E slap a charge on before, I'll make sure I have it covered this time. Cheers anyway.
Anyways if your interested in an X5 with bits, its now on the market!!
Thanks for the posts - you put my mind to rest!

A soon to be happy X3i user :D
