Wired Modem and ISP Provider
I need for information. I would like to use a CF wired modem to connect to the internet. Email and such. I see a lot of information about wireless, but at this point I only need wired modem. Does any body have a suggestion on CF modem and more important, who are the ISP for Pocket PC 2002?
Thanks

I just got my AmbiCom EZJack Model # CF56M-EZ compact flash modem last night and it seems to work just fine. I configured it to work with my existing ISP - BellSouth. The configuration wasn't hard at all. The jack where the plug goes into is a lot more sturdy than i thought it was going to be.
I bought the card at amazon.com for $58 to my door. I ordered it on Feb.13th received it on the 18th with a weekend in the middle. Not too shabby i think. Especially with free shipping.
It doesn't appear to be to bad on the battery. I will be trying it out more as the days go by of course.
Now I am waiting on my Netgear wireless card to come in today.;) :p

There are not a lot of CF modems out there. THe one I have used is by Targus and it worked well with Bellsouth. If your ISP supports dialup without a dedicated client, you should be able to use them on the Pocket PC.

The Ambicom is $29.99 after rebate through 2/22 at CompUSA. I haven't opened mine yet since I am not sure I will keep it, but I haven't read of any problems with it anywhere. Also, it shouldn't matter what ISP you use as long as they don't require you to use any sort of special connection software (e.g. AOL).

I also bought the AmbiCom modem. I've had it for about a month and really like it. I use it with my Earthlink ISP and haven't had a problem.
One thing you might want to do is download the Pocket PC Connection Wizard from the microsoft mobile website (free download). It allows you to easily set up your phone numbers, etc, for use on the Axim.

Are there any good CF hard wired ethernet cards? I have a netgear 701 wireless card on its way, but I'm not always at a place where wireless is provided, and possibly instead I can find a relatively cheaper priced hard wired card with a dongle or something.

I purchsed an Ambicom for $29.99 after rebate at CompUSA and was going to try it out. Discovered that I left the Axim on all night and I'm out of town and forgot my charger. I have to wait until Monday to give it a test.

Picked this up from CompUsa the past week and it works great - no problems with setting it up and connecting to my ISP.

try the targus cf modem
it works great and does not require any drivers to install on 2002. as far as an isp goes, how about free access? go to www.myfreei.com. you get 10 hours a month for free. lots of local access numbers. this is the perfect solution for retrieving e-mail on the road! it works great!
