Newbie Here.
I was wondering how to upgrade my axim for more memory. Do I simply buy a larger SD card somewhere and slide it in the slot in place of the default one? The default one holds only 5M so it's not as convenient as I had hoped, but a larger card would be perfect. If anyone can help me out or give me a website for purchasing a larger card I would be extremely grateful. Thanks in advance.

That 5 Megabytes of space is part of the Axim itself, the 'storage card' you speak of is actually a piece of plastic to keep dust and other stuff out of the card slot when you don't have a real card in there.

Thank you very much for the replies. What type of memory do you suggest for my upgrade. I am primarily going to be using my Axim for fun and games as I am a high school student so the memory would mostly be utilized for mp3's, ebooks and games. I would like to have the largest amount for a reasonable price...(i.e., under $200ish) I am not particularly interested in a wireless connection so I am especially attracted to a CF card instead of SD. How do these compare in terms of price, speed, security and approval. Any aid in steering through this mess would be extremely helpful. Thank you!

Are you going to be interested in any I/O devices? If so then go for the SD, otherwise any CF will do. I have heard that the SanDisk isn't the best and some people have had problems with it, but YMMV. There are probably a lot of people using SanDisk CF and are problem free. I am one of them.

I have heard that compact flash cards are somewhat slower than SD cards though they are close as far as price is concerned. Is this fact true and if it is, how comparable are they in terms of speed (i.e. relatively close, etc.) I have also heard that Viking is a far superior brand of CF cards than other types such as sandisk or kingston. Is this information accurate or is someone feeding me lies? I would really like to get the best deal for my memory that would suit my tasks the best. Thanks.
