Does anyone know if Symbol's Wireless Networker 802.11b compact flash will work with a 400Mhz Axim?

I have the Symbol Card and it works Great with my Axim X5. The set-up was very simple and the throughput is awsome. I consistently get 699KPS or higher when I conduct speed tests through my home AP to the net.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Thanks. I purchased one based on a friend's recommendation. (He is using an iPaq) I loaded driver version 3.24 (firmware F3.10-01) and selected "Infrastructure" and "No Encryption". Unfortunately, I haven't been able to lock onto any access points. I even went so far as to go sit at Starbucks to see if I could get it to work. I am a wireless "virgin". Any help pointing me in the right "setup" direction would be greatly appreciated.

You need to set the SSID to match the Access Point (AP) of the network you want to access. I'm not sure what the Starbucks SSID is, but you can probably find out here T-Mobile's Web Site

The Starbucks site is a pay-per-view or subscription based. You can possibly find other free "hotspots" in your area. I live in Portland, OR and there are quite a few public hotspots. Check out Community Wireless Node Database Project Site or Personal Telco Webpage for more info.

I haven't tried it yet, but I think you can go into the settings and set the SSID to "any" or "ANY" and that might let you access any network that card see's a signal.

Note that Dell is selling and supporting the Symbol card and software, so it ought to work!

Try this link to locate HotSpots, I haven't bought my card yet and gone out exploring, but I know the one that comes up in my City is true. It's well known in town to work....

It will even tell you the SSID for that network if it is availible. when you click on the Location(s) that come up...
