Verizon cdma Nokia 3285 data phone cable for Axim 5

If you haven't checked Mobil Planet recently

www.mobileplanet.com

They've developed a data cable for Axim to access email and the internet using the cell phone as a 14KB modem. I've got it on order and will share my experience as I learn to use the Axim with the verizon network.

Any Luck?

I've got a Nokia 3285 and am also on Verizon, and am *very* interested in knowing whether the 3285-to-Axim cable works, and all of the setup procedures you have to go through. I'm presupposing you've got a dialup ISP (like me) that you'd use the 3285 to connect to.

Is that phone 3g compatible?

I'm w/ US Cellular and the v60i I have is not even 1x on our system.

You may just want to upgrade phones if not. 3G will give you typical cruise rates at 50-60kps or so and burst speeds to 156k.

No idea. I'm not too keen on upgrading phones, I have a docking station (VoxLink) at home that lets me interface the 3285 with my home wiring, allowing me to use any of my extensions to place LD calls via the cell phone. It's saved me hundreds of dollars, since I'm on the blower every other night for an hour or three talking with the gf.

I just want to know if the solution that's already out there actually works, that's all. :D

Well, unfortunately due to the limitations of the phone, the connect speed is slow. However, I can connect to the verizon web server. I'm still figuring out how to pull down email. Better to experiment at night when you have your free minutes.
