Bluetooth Audio Adapter

Here's an idea...

How about a bluetooth device that would take an audio signal (heck, even a video signal) from a bluetooth-enabled handheld device, and translate that into an audio (or video) signal that could be patched into a stereo, receiver, whatever.

Kind of like current cassette adapters to 1/8" jack or fm modulators.

It's got to be possible, especially if they have bluetooth headsets.

Speaking of that, who all sells STEREO bluetooth headsets? Not the telephone one-earpiece units.

I was thinking the same thing for audio / video! The Dell unit for video out connects into the SDIO port, meaning no memory card!

This aint so bad

Bluetake just came out with Bluetooth Stereo Headphones . The only problem is that it doesn't use the internal BT in your Axim, but instead it has an adapter which plugs into the audio jack which then transfers sound to the headphones. It got a very good review.

there isn't enough bandwidth with bluetooth to support high quality audio, or video.

a possible solution (albeit a messy one)
buy some bluetooth headphones and an fm radio transmitter (eg irock, ilink etc)
open up the bluetooth headset and connect the wires that go to the speakers in the headset to the input wires on the fm transmitter, then tune you radio in to the correct frequency. (You could put plugs on the wires so they could easily be re-connected to the headset speaker(s) )

I know its a messy solution but it should work with either a bluetooth headset, or if you have the money a bluetooth stereo headset.

That's simply not true.

A number of people are using HP's new Bluetooth Stereo Headphones, and there has been no complaint about the quality of the audio.

For the most part, I've resigned myself to the fact that I need to use a wired connection, and it isn't so bad.

But I can certainly see the future on this one.

Wrong on that count buddy, if there isnt enough bandwidth then why are there already bluetooth headphones. You are probably right about there not being enough bandwidth for high quality video

I know I may be looking for something that isn't out there, but Ideally what I'd be interested in would be "BT High Quality Stereo Headphones that integrate with a microphone" that isn't offensive or would be discreet or can be disconnected/removed, so that most of the time you can you it to listen to "tunes" and then, when neccesary you can utilise it with Skype or other VOIP, an impossible dream?

The way bluetooth devolopment is comeing along I would say yes, and if it does come along it would most likely be around $100-$200. Im still waiting on a bluetooth gamepad that does not cost as much as an entire portable game console. or hell even a clip on one. I also would like to see some nice bluetooth headphones w/ microphone under $100.

Well hopefully, but just don't want to be wondering around whilst commuting listening to music with a microphone on display looking like a "t**t", but still have the option of a mic for when I am at work or something, by a WiFi signal to Skype, if you know what I mean!!

Perhaps I'll get the Seido wired version in the meantime!!

I've come to believe that Bluetooth is currently, too young, too rare, and "in between" to have developers really putting massive time and effort into the project.

1) I've seen "bluetooth" cell phone items in stores for over 3 years. That might be part of the problem, as it was the cell developers and not the computer developers that were pushing the technology.

2) Latest Bluetooth stack? 1.2

3) Some PDAs and cell phones come with integrated Bluetooth. Any laptops? Desktops? Not to my knowlegde.

4) Let's face it...BT doesn't have the bandwidth of wi-fi, which is more accessible. It is faster and more useful than IR (line of sight not required), so BT's real functionality becomes in short-distance perphial (misspelled) support, once again limiting the overall market for the technology.

I like bluetooth in general, and I like the devices I have with it...but there have been challenges. Hopefully the industry will commit to this technology (IR is all but dead in that light for the future).

of a technology and too rare of a technology to
Actually, laptops are not coming w/ BT. My brother just ordered a Dell laptop w/ built-in BT and also bought a BT printer. He's in the real estate business and feels that the ability to print docs anywhere will be very helpful. I think this is pretty cool even though I don't necessarily think you need a printer everywhere you go.
