MobileWise Wire-Free Electricity Base

Now this is a great idea. MobileWise has created a wireless charging pad for any electronic device. Now don't get TOO excited yet people!! The electronic device has to have a MobileWise controller chip in it (only a few millimeters). Now, unless manufacturers actually start to catch on to this (which I doubt they will anytime soon)....it means that someone will either have to sell "modified" electronic devices (like a modified Axim), run a business that modifies your existing devices for you, or develop a VERY small external adapter...possibly just like a thumbtack size device sticking out of the DC jack??? They do offer a development kit that consists of the electronic base, development tools, and a controller chip. Not sure how much the development kit is though, but very cool to look at and imagine at least. Anyhow, you can check out their website at:

MobileWise website

And here are some pics from MobileWise's website of the base, as well as the controller chip:

interesting idea but it would probably be costly and the device has to maintain contact with the pad to charge...so it's "wireless" but not truely contact free. :)

It takes up much more space than a cradle & just doesn't appear to be very practical.

I know it's not THE most practical idea. But the main idea is for users of MANY electronic devices (cell phone, PDA, Laptop, etc.). This would be much easier than plugging/un-plugging all of your devices. And if used as a desktop mat, could just set your laptop on it at home without ever having to plug it in. Like I (and you) said, it's not the most practical idea.....just a kinda cool new way to do old things.
