Many sites are told ahead of time of upcoming products. But, since they sign non-disclosure agreements they can not post any information on it.

Yes, THIS ONE! You will get just as much info, if not more, on this site compared to any other PDA related site. Especialy when it comes to a Dell related product.

Hmm I'd also be interested - I mean are there at least any rumors of upcoming PDAs?

I was going to buy the x50v but the relatively small amount of RAM put me off... that and the dismal battery life.

If the next batch of new PDAs (Dell or wherever) deliever 128 MB of RAM and 640x480 with a graphics card included, I'm sold. But then I'd be crying about Windows 2005 not being on it, and so on, as these things go.

I think you'll find that until Wm 2005 comes out in August very few new PDA's will be out before then. Of those so far we know that the MDA III is the only will be coming out.

www.pocketpcthoughts.com is a good place but they wont post any information about WM 2005 until it's released due to NDA's otherwise here's pretty cool or Brighthand if you can't be bothered and don't the fact that any little bit of information get's reposted for about three weeks.

There are always rumors. Though few ever pan out. The rumor that Dell is going to put out a smart phone has been going around for about a year now, yet nothing to show for it.

The amount of RAM in the X50v is better then some out there. Besides, if you store your programs on a memory card you have plenty of RAM left to run several apps at one time. The X50v does come with a video accelerator with 16MB of RAM and a 640X480.

So, it sounds like the only thing it doesn't have it 64 more MB of RAM which realy isn't neaded.

No, the battery life is not outstanding, but if you are wanting better graphics than what the X50v has to offer you will just end up sacrificing more battery life in order to meet the power requirements of those new goodies.

yeah, this been discussed in 2 other threads, just search for all posts my me, and you'll find them. people are saying that the next gen pdas (like with microdrives built in) will be out from august onwards to tie in with windows 2005 release. makes sense i guess. im personally still not sure if i want a pocket pc for phone edition or a str8 up pocket pc. I turned down a £75 dicount on the XDA IIi when renewing my contract (taking £75 credit instead which i think is already gone!!!) since i am waiting for windows 2005 enabled nex gen pocket pcs. I also hope that smart phones do NOT kill pocket pc for phone edition items like i been hearing.

I think if i gets pocket pc for phone edition, i sacrifice some power right? hmm...maybe better i get some mega tiny phone for my sim, and an ultra powerful pocket pc in august :)

damn, i want time to slow down to put off my university exams..but then i want it to speed up quickly so i can work my ass off over summer hols..save up..reach august, and buy the next gen ppc's,although knowing the market, there will be "delays" :(

I agree with you jpmarth, the x50v has the resolution I want and power I want (well maybe just a bit more so it'll run PSX games more smoothly) so essentially 2 things hold me back and hopefully they'll be addressed in the next release.

RAM increase
Battery life increase

The RAM I think is a sure thing, and as for the battery, I'm hoping as with most subsequent generations of portable devices, it will have improved battery life. Only time will tell.
