Hey Gang!

I just installed a copy of the Pocket PC Powerpoint version in my AXIM X5 and I am blown away by how awesome this works. As a Sales Engineer, I can now take my Powerpoint presentations to customer sites and run the whole enchilada from my Dell PDA - pretty darn hip.

The problem I am confronting is that I need to hook the AXIM up to an overhead projector to do my presentations. How do I do that? Is there a cable available somewhere to connect it to the projector?

Thanks for any help!

Sincerely,

Dennis D. Mullert

An overhead projector is a lightbox with a stage that transparencies lay on, where the light is then passed to an overarm lens that then focuses it on a screen. I think you mean a front projector, either an LCD of a DLP? I apologize if I am wrong here.

For my home theater, I've used A2Z Cables. If they don't have a cable that will work, they can custom make one. I had them custom-make a component-to-RGB breakout cable, and the quality was superb.

Best Regards,
Dave

Dennis, just another thought. Apparently there is a docking cradle available with a serial plug-in, as well as the cradle with a USB plug-in. Most front projectors include one or more serial inputs, so you can try hooking up the cradled Axim, via the serial connection, into a projector. In my home theater, I have no problem hooking up my PC to my Panasonic 75U front projector and running it as my display screen. I don't have the serial version of the cradle, so I can't test it out with the Axim. Dell should be able to tell you if this will work, however, since they sell front Projectors.

If you want to use your Axim on a projector, the 'presenatation card' that Dell offers for $199 is an option. It hooks to the Axim's CF card slot and outputs VGA, which you can plug into a projector.

I think you've confused the VGA input plug with serial, they look quite a bit alike, but the VGA plug has alot more pins. A few projectors do have serial output, but that's to use the projector's remote as mouse on a PC.

Hey try the Colorgraphic Voyager CF --it has an adapter for s-video, vga, rca. It comes with software that allows you to

present regular powerpoint slides. Dell sells the Margi, which you can find on ebay for $120 but it only has a VGA out.

Also the software makes you convert your PPt slides and doesn't do annimations. The plus side is the Margi has its own

power cord I believe, but with an extra Axim batery who needs it? I am buying the Colorgraphic. It is much more useful and the software is better. Don't buy the Voyager at Colorgraphic's page.. go to next tag or something.
