Paper's the main thing I'd be worried about. Any of you that have one, is paper something you have to special order (e.g. ebay or online stores), or is it something you can go grab a roll of thermal paper from office max? Also, what's the paper cost (wherever you get it) per "page"?

You can buy Fax paper but you would have to cut it down to size, and make sure you cut it right or it will jam.

Or you can stick with the smaller rolls.

Okay... I got one of these things... but how do I print to it (via IRDA)? The installation CD that came in the box has drivers for W95/98/ME/2K; also a driver for PalmOS (but only for versions 3.x!) but nothing obvious for PPC. Obviously something basic I'm missing?

Also, does anyone know if this thing has a standalone test mode? Don't see anything in the manual about that. A lot of printers do, to display fonts, etc.

Thanks,
Steve

Okay... I tried that, and...

First it says, "Looking for sending devices using IR..."

then it says, "Establishing connection with CompactPrinter V2.21..."

After 3 minutes or so the printer auto-offs, I turn it back on.
And so forth. I have tried distances between printer and PDA of anywhere from 2" to about 18". No differences in behavior. Also, there are no strong IR sources behind either the PDA or printer that might confuse either.

FWIW, I'm trying to print from a program called Pocket OBD. When I try this on an iPAQ 3115 on which the program is also installed, it works acceptably. There must have been communication between the printer and PDA/software at some point because the software now knows that there is a "Sipix A6 printer" that it can print to (in a drop-down list of available devices). When the software was initially installed, all it was aware of were various HP printers.

Any ideas what to try next?

Steve

There are several for sale on ebay. They say they are debranded SiPix. the geeks.com site says the same. what really does this mean? The picture of the printer ordered from the geeks.com site doesn't have the SiPix scratched out like the picture on the site and ebay. does debranding affect the quality or warranty?

I've had this printer for about a year. I've used it a total of 3 times just to test it out. I haven't used it at all outside of the tests... but thanks for reminding me. LOL! Now I'll pull it out of the box and get some use out of it. :)

Oh, I forgot to mention that it was a headache to get it to print. The included software is useless. I had to download and install PrintPocketCE and HP prinitng. HP didn't help because it didn't recognize the SiPix printer and was unable to find 'drivers' for it.

I finally got it to work with PrintPocketCE. I can only print Word, Excel and some Mail documents. That's it.

Does anyone know how to print pix and other types of documents like TextMaker documents using the SiPix printer?

Thanks in advance.

I have not really messed with the printer in the last 2 weeks since I've been busy trying to find work but I'm not sure if I can print with Word I have to check that out.

Do they have any full size paper printers that run on battery and use IR or BT? I need one of them to put in my locker in case I leave my paper @ home and need to print from Ax.
