Okay... I tried that, and...
First it says, "Looking for sending devices using IR..."
then it says, "Establishing connection with CompactPrinter V2.21..."
After 3 minutes or so the
printer auto-offs, I turn it back on.
And so forth. I have tried distances between
printer and PDA of anywhere from 2" to about 18". No differences in behavior. Also, there are no strong IR sources behind either the PDA or
printer that might confuse either.
FWIW, I'm trying to print from a program called
Pocket OBD. When I try this on an iPAQ 3115 on which the program is also installed, it works acceptably. There must have been communication between the
printer and PDA/software at some point because the software now knows that there is a "Sipix A6
printer" that it can print to (in a drop-down list of available devices). When the software was initially installed, all it was aware of were various HP printers.
Any ideas what to try next?
