Young boy's death linked to GB Charger

First of all, before I start quoting this bizarre and just that much ignorance news, let me say that it is irresponsible for news agency to report it with complete blame to GB and Nintendo is unacceptable.

Quote:
Connor, 7, killed by Gameboy

A BOY of seven was electrocuted as he charged up a Gameboy he got for Christmas on holiday in Thailand.

Connor O’Keefe’s mum and stepdad found him slumped beside the power socket in his hotel room.

It is thought he may have plugged in the Gameboy or pulled at its charger while still wet from the pool.

Thai police insist it was an accident, although the family are unsure and may insist on their own investigation.

His sister Maria added: “The Gameboy was bought for Connor in Thailand.

“Obviously there has to be a question over the safety of the electrics in the hotel, but that’s something that still has to be properly looked into.”

If they tried to blame someone for this accident, it should be the family solely. Trying to blame the Hotel, Nintendo or anyone else is wrong. What else that comes to mind is that if that charger was a different voltage than the plug in the hotel? And if the kid was really wet, then there is no question about it. It is very sad, but it is just an accident. Why make news into it, and get Nintendo involved...

I don't think Thailand laws will let anyone take advantage of this horrible situation.

Gameboy charges are universal voltage so there shouldn't be a question about that.

Not sure about where you're all from but it was new for me when I moved to SEA a number of years ago: electrical plugs here have an on/off switch, attached to the plug outlet. When kept turned off, no voltage is running through it. The problem is that a lot of people don't turn them off. If the child had any contact with the metal bits on the plug going into the outlet, look out.

Plus, I've seen loads of difficult plugs around here, where you almost have to kick the damn thing to get it in. The child could have been holding onto the plug in an abnormal way.

Parents are responsible, in my opinion. The only reason Nintendo is mentioned is to boost publicity for the story. I've heard no mention of there being a faulty charger.
