WM5 Upgrade for iPAQ HX4700 delayed
Looks like Dell is not the only company to disappoint its ppc users with upgrades tp WM5. HP was suppose to provide an upgrade to WM5 for hx4700 users which has now been delayed

Well, roll out is late summer 2005 according to HP website below. At least its officially announced.

Edited: Corrected to say rollout was suppose to be late summer 2005. However the real roll out did not occur until this week.

yeah, my coworker got it yesterday for his 4700. right off the bat he couldn't connect. he worked on it all day and then asked me if i had heard of any problems. bwahahahahaha. had him up and running in 5 mins flat. Thanks Aximsite! he had the problem where it didn't have the boxes checked under the properties for the connection. Came right up. we are comparing mine to his now to see if all the problems are the same. 5 minutes syncs was the first thing we found and we applied the fake server trick and it fixed it.

so far it has been just like I have with a few exceptions for programs that are HP specific. I will ask him tomorrow to look at the BT stuff.

it's comfirmed that the new rom for 4700 supports A2DP, it's using the widcomm stack, is it possible to use the files on x50v/51v to make A2DP working... ?

Can you verify what is the version of this stack?

I'm taking it that this upgrade for the HP4700 might mean that Dell is close to a solution as well? Is that what you guys are thinking, I'm getting my x51v next week and it would be awesom if an upgraded bluetooth stack came along around the same time. Had HP been announcing the release of this upgrade or did it just get released?

divanish: The HP WM5 releases have all, without exception, released using WIDCOMM's BT stack. The problem is that Dell didn't use this stack, which is why people are crying that the Bluetooth stack became useless with WM5... and just because HP released an hx4700 upgrade doesn't mean that Dell'll finish theirs any faster, unfortunately...
It's a pity that HP's upgrade (so far) seems to have worked better for the hx4700 than the Dell one did for the x50. :/ Of course, they've discontinued the hx4700, so I guess that evens things out a bit.
