I currenly have a x51V which I am very happy with. I am looking at device for my wife. she doesn't require anything really powerfull but doesn't really want to carry two devices. We currently have Cingular for our cellular service. I was looking at the i-mate series of devices.

If I were to go that route how do I use the phone feature? Do I simply install the sim card from her phone? Any help would be apprciated.

After reading about registry settings all day, try going to xda-developers.net. They have more specified knowledge concerning Pocket PC phone devices since the axim does not include a cell phone radio chip.

If simply installing the sim card does work, then great. Otherwise, a couple of changes to the registry may do the trick.

I-mate devices are not locked to any network - so they should just work. you may have to specify the details for the gprs/3g connection.

the devices are also sold under the network's own brands. these are locked to a particular network and won't work without a bit of hacking.
