Frustration using Pocket PC
Ok, I love my devices Ipaq 2215 and Axim X5. Coudn't live without anymore. Still every now and then these devices really get on my nerves.
The most frustrating experience is to lose some vital information. I have a Transcend 512MB Compact flash-card. For some reason both Axim and Ipaq occasionally give this error report about a device driver for Compact flash-card. Now I have a CF Card and CF Card2 on my device, for some reason (though having just one card). Ipaq just gave this error report and CF Card dissappeared. I thought I was losing my whole vehicle tracking data, luckily the CF-card got back. Still - makes me frustrated.
I planned buying Ipaq 2215 for months. Just as I was ready to make the purchase, Hp Import Finland made a 120 EUR rise in the price. I bought Ipaq 2215 in the beginning of december for 499 Euros. This equals 599 USD!! After I had made the purchase, HP Import was ready to put the price back where it was before. Again, this makes me frustrated.
I have to reset my Ipaq 5-10 times a day. Axim was getting very slow, I thought it would be different with Ipaq. Now I know Ipaq is even slower (I think I have to uninstall some programs). Not always, but occasionally it happens and makes me quite frustrated.
I have lost my vehicle tracking information for 2 times, also 2 times has my expense tracking .dat gone to heaven. Journal Pro has lost my journals for 3 months. Sometimes I even lose some 2Kb note I've just made. I thought these computers were meant to make our life easier!! Instead - they give a big time frustration.
When we are planning to go to the mall with my wife, I proudly take my Pocket PC and we start planning for shopping lists. Almost every time, for some reason, the Axim or Ipaq freezes or for other reason loses the list. We jump back 50 years and make the same list on paper with pencil. Again - a bunch of frustration.
I could list more reasong why I love my devices. Still, I think the Pocket PC is far from perfect. Or have I mysteriously got all the problems it would be possible to get?! Let's just say, my following PDA could easily be a Palm.
