Battery life... plz educate me
I have an iPaq 3850. I love having it on the road, etc.. but I do not use it regularly. I've had to reload the darn thing countless times... because it's dead. I lose everything.

It turns back on ok and all.. but everything is lost. Why is this?? It's physically turned OFF... so why is it 'draining'?

Someone suggested that it might be because of alarms set in my Outlook calendar folder... but why would that matter if the unit is turned off? Obviously.. I know nothing... LOL

Can someone please educate me? Thanks.

SillyEagle,

When you turn off the PPC, it is not truly off (like you would turn off a TV). The unit goes into standby mode when you press the power button. However the unit's internal clock must still run so that if a schedule notification is to occur an alarm can be triggered. So gradual power is still consumed by the PPC when it is in standby mode. My recommendation is if you leave your PPC unattended for long stretches than make a backup and leave the PPC connect to the cradle or separate AC power.

Thanks Ted. Sounds perfectly logical to me... guess I wasn't thinking.

I suppose I'll have to learn to keep it docked when I'm not using it instead of tossing it in the car for days on end. LOL

That is the one thing that I miss about my PV-400S Casio Pocket Viewer. It uses Flash RAM which retains the information without the need for power.

It is powered by 2 AAA batteries and lasted me for over 8 months of heavy daily use. My wife uses it now, but there are times when I wish I had it (instead of my iPAQ 2215).
