Storage space - how much is enough
I currently use a 256mb simpltech sd card but I am constnatly running out of storage space. I enjoy trying various programs. For me I like to use a program for a while to make sure I am going to get any use from it. Problem is I load up programs in the masses. So the question is, if I get 512mb card will I be in the same situation but with more programs and data? or should I purchase anohther 256mb sd card (which would be cheaper)? Anyone find themselves in this situation?

I think you'll find the more you have the more you use..... I'm about to upgrade from a 128MB to a 256MB and I'm pretty sure that I'll fill that up to. But I can't justify a 512MB at the moment...

I agree with Howard2k. It is like going from a Honda to a Lincoln. You are going to enjoy all of the luxuries that the Lincoln has because they exist. Fine I admit that wasn't a great comparison, but you get the point I'm sure.

I would suggest getting another 256MB card, because that way you can have one for programs, the other for MP3s or various files. That way you also keep organized. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Well, I purchased a Kingston 512mb sd card. They are currently $128 at eCost.com. The card works great! The reason I went ahead with the 512 is I realized I have a lot of programs that I depend on and they eat up a 256mb card out right. I also use my Ipaq as a MP3 player and picture viewer. Other than that I do financial work and tend to store large presentations and spreadsheets for review while traveling. With this in mind I realized the 512 was what I needed. Wrong! What I need is a 1gig sd card right? Someone stop me! I now have two 256 sd's, one 128 sd, and one 512 sd all full! Help!!

Since the 41xx/43xx has only one slot it is tough when you have alot of apps and also use alot of MP3s/OGG/WMA files your card will fill up fast.

I currently have 3 x 256MB SD cards. The 512MB and the new 1GB are not cost effective at this point (IT is cheaper to purchase multiple 256MB which is cheaper than the single larger format units).
And I agree the more you have the more you want. One card is used for pictures and video, one for MP3s and the last one for ebooks.

I agree. My current setup is very organized. I have four Lexar 256MB cards as follows:

-Music
-Movies
-Programs
-Misc Documents, and etc.

Great setup. What I would like though is an expansion pack which acts as a massive card reader with multiple formats. Or better (for me) would be an expansion pack with 3 SD slots running down each side. That way I would be able to store a whole bunch of stuff and never need to swap cards. That would be sweet.

I have a 256sd card for my software and it is just fine for me. I use a 512mb for movies and other stuff I want to bring from my PC (still fiddling with wi-fi). I might get a second 512 for gps maps once I buy my gps (nest big purchase).

I always vote against buy the very latest thing. I go one step down. In my case, at the time, it was a 256mb sd (512 was out) and a 512mb cf (1gb was out). I'm against suffering the $$$ ill effect of brand new stuff on the block.

I am not a very organized person so the idea of multiple cards is not a good idea for me . One of the reasons I love my 2215 so much is that it has a CF and SD slot. So I have a 1GB CF and just upgraded to a 512MB SD card. I have just over 700MB of my card filled with music and my portable version of the BBC recordings of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. The SD card is for games, pics, ebooks and whatever else I think I have to have. I cannot imaging moving to a PPC that does not have both slots.

I also use a 512MB SD Card. I have ebooks, installed apps and GPS maps on it. My CF slot mostly has a 512MB Lexar card in it that contains tons of OGG song files. I also swap it with my 1GB card that has strictly movies. So for the most part I only carry one CF card. I don't like the idea of carrying multiple cards as I move around alot.

I've noticed that most people have more than one card, i currently run my ipaq with 2 64mb cards, and i'm thinking i might bypass getting 128,256,512mb sd cards and get a microdrive (2gb), are they any good? also is there any software to allow you turn them off to stop them from draining your battery? if not would anyone be interested if i wrote a program to do this?
thanks
Rob
