USB charging
I bought the Boxwave MiniSync andam considering the wall charging adapter to go along with it. I know USB charging is very slow because that is how the ports are. But my question is, when I use the USB wall adapter, is it going to be as slow as charging through the computer or is it going to charge at the same rate as any normal AC adapter?

It depends on the power output of the wall adapter. Most likely it will be a lot more than the 100-500mA an USB port puts out.

Be careful, though. I've seen some of those USB/wall adapters state that they put out 12V. If so, that's likely to fry your iPaq.

Any dangers to USB charging directly from PC to IPAQ?

Was thinking of getting this to sync/charge while at work.

Retractable Sync n' Charge cable for the road warrior
Tired of carrying a large, bulky sync cable and AC Adapter? The Lil' Sync Retractable Cables are the solution. Don't leave home without them. They extend from 4" up to 35", weigh only a couple of ounces and will sync and charge your unit

Thanks

The USB port puts out 5V of power. As long as the power output of your AC adapter is the same then you are fine. I have a JAVOsync cable and I use it almost everyday at work and it recharges my 2215 just fine.

Well,,, I had the USB Sync charge cable with my Axim and basically found it to be more trouble that it was worth. It basically just trickle charged the unit and if the Axims battery fell below 65% not only would the USB cable NOT charge the battery it would actually drain the remaining charge from the Axim. So when I replaced the Axim with my much much nicer 2215 I just bought a spare battery to go with it. The 2215s battery is so small its easy to carry a spare and with the two batteries I can go three days easy without recharging......

Part of that had to do with the charging requirements for the Axim. Atleast for the X5 I know the charging requirements is 5.5V of power to properly charge the battery. Since the the USB port only puts out 5V the USB port did not supply adequate power to properly charge the battery.

The charging requirements for the 2215 is 5V versus 5.5 for the Axim X5. I have been successful in fully charging my 2215 at 60% using my JAVOsync cable. I have a second battery also.

I haven't tried it (below 60%). I'm thinking that it will try but will take awhile to charge. Besides, I normally don't let my battery get below that as I always keep it charged.

my cable from javosync doesnt charge my 4150 past a certain point. Not sure what point that is though, I mainly just use it for syncing than charging, charging is just a bonus.

I've noticed the same thing. I use a sync/charge USB cable from Goomatic and there are times it just doesn't want to work. I have noticed though that when this is happening it will usually work if I turn the iPaq off, then it will charge. Maybe this is due to load? Don't know.

I believe that USB chargers are good for topping off the battery. Power requirements are not as great when the battery is nearly charged.

When the battery falls below 70% the power draw is greater requiring more power to charge. Obviously when the unit is on the constant power draw is great as well.

xboxlord,

I'm not sure if you received a direct answer, but our charger will put a full on charge on your handheld. Also, there's no need to worry about your unit being fried either .

Best,
