Is it the card or could it be ActiveSync?
I'm hoping someone out there will have a solution for me as I am at a loss.

I went to install an update to one of my games tonight and got the message that there was not enough disk space on my SD card. I checked the memory using my 2215 and saw that I had less than half of my 256 MB SD card in use.

I did a soft reset hoping it would cure the problem. Imagine my surprise when my Today screen came up and nearly all of the icons belonging to software installed on my SD card were gone! I checked the memory again and it showed I had 2 MB free. Using the file explorer on the 2215 I checked out the contents of the SD card. All it showed was Text Twist.

I ended up formatting my card using Storage Tools and doing a hard reset just to make sure there was nothing in the main memory that was causing some weird sort of problem. Everything appeared to be fine - showing the correct amount of free memory and all. I started reinstalling games. I got 2 games installed so I started reinstalling Legacy (yeah ... I was in the third city. All of my progress LOST!!! ). and got the message that Legacy.pdb did not install properly and that I should try reinstalling.

I went ahead and cleared it out of the system using remove programs. Tried reinstalling and this time I was told there was not enough free disk space. My 2215 shows the free memory on my SD card to be over 240 MB. I took a look at the SD card using file explorer. There was a Legacy file installed - looked like the .cab file. I tapped on it and it started to install and then I got a message that Legacy.cab is not a valid Windows CE file (or something to that effect).

So I'm really getting peeved long about now. I tried installing Legacy to the main memory and got the message that Legacy.cab is not a valid Windows CE file. Tried installing to my CF card and it looks as if it worked fine.

I am stumped on this! I have had this card for over a year and had no problems to speak of - other than the time I tried to install a file that was too large and it wiped out my card .

What makes this even more interesting is that I started having the same problem about a month ago with the CF card in my Axim. I pretty much wrote that off to the other problems I had been having with the Axim, courtesy of one of my sons. But now I don't know.

Anyone had this problem or have any ideas as to what I can do to correct it? I'm wondering if I should go ahead and uninstall/reinstall activesync? I guess at this point in time it doesn't matter much.

Wow,

Sorry to hear that!

Definately sounds like a Card issue. Looks as if the infamous Sandisk bug has struck again.

I highly doubt that it is the h2215. Now I'm motivated to backup my SD card!

I went ahead and uninstalled/reinstalled Activesync last night. After that I was able to install one more game to my SD card. I played one of them last night for a bit. While I was playing the unit turned itself off for a couple of seconds and then back on. I played a little more and it happened again.

Then I decided to switch to BookWorm. It said something like the .cab file was missing or something. It was late, I don't remember exactly. So I went back to the first game I was playing and I couldn't play that either. So I went to sleep.

This morning I tried playing the games installed on my SD card and they work fine. I still cannot install anything, though.

I am using a Sandisk card. Like I said, I have never had any problems with my Sandisk SD card - which I have had for over a year now. I am kind of leaning toward a bad card, but I have to wonder:

1) Why couldn't I install Legacy to the main memory of my 2215 after it failed to install to my SD card?

2) What about the powering off and on issue? Can a bad card cause that?

3) What are the odds of a CF card on my Axim having the exact same problem a few weeks ago?

I would say that your first problem has something to do with the registry trying to reinstall the app.

As far as your your iPaq turning off and back on that is a strange one. Check iPaq backup and make sure that you don't have the battery monitor turned on.

In regard to the Axim maybe the iPaq God's are frowning on you...

I have emailed SanDisk about this and am waiting to hear from them. I am seriously thinking about picking up a different brand SD card to see if the problem persists. I've never used anything but SanDisk and had relatively good luck until now. Anything other than SanDisk I should try to avoid?

Not really. I would look at either Lexar or Simpletech.

Ok. Think I am going to sneak out to the store after work tomorrow and pick one up. While I can most likely purchase it for less $$ online, I don't want to wait for delivery. Heck, might as well upgrade to a 512 .

I haven't heard anything bad about PNY cards. Any comments?

PNY cards are pretty good. I like Panasonic ones personally but they tend to be hard to find (at least in Canada). If you are going to get 512MBs, I would suggest getting 2 256MB cards. They're cheaper, and they give you an extra way to organize your files. You can get 2 cards for about $60, but a 512 will probably run you around $160

2 cards is fine it just I hate the idea of carrying more cards than I have two. It is already a pain carrying my essential accessories. If your looking at SD cards and you have the slots available in the case (if used) then that is fine.

I have SD card storage in my case, but I hate swapping out cards.

I do too!

If the difference is only $20 between 2 256 cards versus 1 512 card, I would go for the 512 for convenience.
