Data Error (CRC) while writing to SD card
I have an HP laptop with an SD slot on the side. I recently purchased a Kingston 256MB SD card and put it in my laptop to transfer mp3's to... the first few files transfered fine but then I keep getting Data Error (Cyclic Redundancy Check). I formatted the card a couple times in FAT and FAT32 and the same thing happens. Anybody else have a problem with this?

I can transfer files perfectly fine to the SD card when it's in my iPaq though. But that's a lot slower since I sync with Bluetooth.

Suggestions?

That's the first time I had of that error for solid state media. Have you done a scandisk?

If you are using the SD Card for MP3's, you should consider formatting to FAT16.

EDIT: You could also try formatting on your PPC and then see if that works.

Yeah I've tried scandisk and defragging, no use. I'm on Windows XP and have no FAT16 formatting option, only FAT, FAT32, and NTFS.

I haven't tried formatting it from my PPC. I'll see if that works, if not oh well, I'll have to live with file transfers with Bluetooth.

Update
I downloaded a Winbond secure digital drive file from "http://www.thepcclub.com/support_downloads_details.cfm?fid=47991F6C-802B-2E43-29C412DFBBC0E70F" and installed it on my laptop. Not sure if that was what did it, but the drive works great now. I can transfer large files quickly with no problems.
