SD speed makes a difference?
Does the speed of an SD memory card make any difference when used in a PocketPC? I see Lexar offers 32x "high speed" cards, but after the recent article on Tom's Hardware about the slow SDIO interfaces used in PPCs, I wonder if I should spend the extra bucks for a faster card.

I am using Kingston Hi-Speed Elite Pro, it is a high speed usb sd card if i use an external memory reader, but as slow as a snail if i use the PPC to write files to it.

I benchmarked a standard Lexar card and a 32x Lexar card in my PPC. The 32x was faster. More difference on write than on read, but there was a difference. The cost difference between the two was CAD$10 so worthwhile in my opinion. Sandisk tend to be significantly slower so I would strongly recommend avoiding them.

Ok - thanks. I'm not as much concerned about writing speed as reading. I'd like to use my new iPaq 4355 to watch movies using "DVD to PocketPC". The 32x Lexar 512MB card is about $100USD higher though, so unless it's going to be a MUCH better experience, I might go with the lower-speed model.

I did find this page comparing a few SD cards on a few iPaq models, but it's far from a complete list. Anyone know of a similar, but more complete comparison?

I would suggest sticking with Lexar, Panasonic etc. and avoid Sandisk.
