Hello all,

First I'd like to say that I love the site. I've been into the PDA world for a couple of years now, but only just found this site recently and have already learned a bunch of tricks and stuff from just browsing the forums here.

Ok so, I looked about for info to help with my problem but couldn't find anything. A little info on my set-up I guess would be usefull so here is what I am working with.

Computer:

custom built pentium 4
2.8 ghz processor
1 gig ram
windows xp pro
cable internet connection
linksys router (can't remember exact model and I am at work at the moment)

PDA:
HP Ipaq 2215
ROM Revision 1.00.10 ENG
Windows CE 4.20

Now to the problem, Yesterday I purchased a Linksys USBBT100 bluetooth adaptor. Read and followed installation and set-up instructions no problems. What I am running into is, when I try to use my Ipaq to browse the internet, I get a message that says it is dialing a connection. I also lose the ability to browse the internet on my desktop system. I am still connected to the internet via the cable modem, but when I open my browser, all I get is page not found error. Now, when I have my ipaq docked in the cradle, I can acces the internet with no issues at all on both machines. I'm kinda stuck here for what to do next. I've tried everything I can think of including removing and reinstalling all the BT software. Any tips you all can throw out would be appreciated very much.

Hello and welcome to iPaqHQ!

What you are doing is very doable. In order to accomplish what you are trying to do you need to use ICS (Internet Connection Sharing). I have the exact same dongle. Click on the My Bluetooth Places icon on your desktop and go into My Device. You will see an icon that says Network Access. Right click on it and goto properties. This is where you will configure the Network access with the dongle and it will also assist you with setting up ICS. Once the service is running then you will need to rediscover the Linksys dongle using BT manager on your h2215. It will find the device and setup icon shortcuts for all of the services that are enabled via BT on your desktop. It should create an icon for Network Access via your desktop. Connect to it using BT manager and you should be all set.

Thanks a ton. I'll check out both those when I get home. Stuck here at work for another 5 hours at least. Blah, now I want to get home and work on this. Maybe I'll sneak out early.
