iPaq3715 Won't Work
i have an ipaq 3715 and i haven't used it in a while, so i expected the battery to be completely dead. when i attached the usb cradle to my laptop today, though, and set the ipaq into it, nothing happened. no familiar little blue light, nothing at all. is it the battery? or the ipaq itself?

Welcome to the site, webpheret

Just a few ideas:

Have you tried charging it from the mains? I'm not familiar with the model you have, but is there a battery lock switch, & if so is it all the way across? Have you tried removing the battery & then replacing it (in case it was wrongly seated)?

(Others, I'm sure, will be along shortly to offer more advice )

same for me on my iPaq rx3115. Just restart it, and start charging. Did you leave your WiFi or Bluetooth on?

i ordered a charger for it (this one on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWN:IT) and plugged it into the wall. first it came on and went through the screen like it had reset, but halfway through the little loading bar, the screen went dark and it looked like it froze. i pushed the power button and it did it again, so i unplugged it, and the image stayed on the screen for a few minutes.

did i get the wrong charger? is my battery fried? is my poor iPaq dead?

you need a new battery m friend....these lithium ion batteries do not like to be left dead for even a short amount of time and I too have learned this the hard way a few times now. get a new battery and it will solve your problems. recycle your dead battery please

on my rx3715, when the battery is completely dead the USB cradle will no recharge it. Whenever that happens (ex: leaving the ipaq on, leaving it in hot weather, other pwr draining uses), I have to charge it w/ the ac adapter that comes from HP. after that works great

Webpheret, sometimes the PPC will look as if it is frozen (i.e. the loading bar will stop moving), but give it a minute or two as the device might still actually be starting up (mine behaves this way sometimes- don't know why, & it can be worrying, but it gets there in the end).

Exactly the same thing happened to me. Charger bought off ebay. Try to charge - no joy. Won't switch on, though it DOES switch itself on (!), boots, then after about 20 seconds turns off with a faint image of the last screen just about visible.

Ordered a new (cheap) battery off ebay - will let you know how it goes!
