Hi Scientist. I didn't know Dell wasn't going to be making Axims any longer.
HP definietly seems to be getting out of the PDA market, the high end PDA market for sure. To answer you question anout whether to get one now I have to ask, what do you want to be able to do with a PDA? That can make a difference on recommendations.
The main advantage to WM5 is "persistant storage". In earler pocket PC OS versions, programs are stored in volatile RAM. If your batter should drain for any reason, you would loose all your data. In WM5 all the programs and data are stored in ROM, so that if you loose battery power or drain the battery, you don't loose the data (like on a cell phone for example). There are also some upgrades to the Pocket Office software apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Beyond that, the advantages are subjective. It's newer, but not necessarily better.
