PDA2K stylus blues
my stylus broke over the weekend and ended up buying stylus for my pda2k that was designed for the ipaq 1900 series, that meant it was a bit smaller and a tiny bit slimmer so it was loose, I figured I'd wrap around some scotch tape to thicken it a bit, but a couple of turns and it was rather loose. I got home and tried with some black electrical tape, the kind you use with car wires and at first it seemed kind of too thick so I took off a couple of turns and it seemed better but one time when I tried to pull it out, it just came off and is now, a little turn of black electrical tape, stuck at the bottom of my pda2k stylus hole!!! what do I do? I tried to pick it out with a hair pin but couldn't and am too chicken to even try to open up my device. I am now trying again with a couple of turns of transparent scotch tape and the stylus seems ok. please any suggestions. I AM ESPECIALLY CONCERNED WITH THE PIECE OF TAPE STUCK AT THE BOTTOM OF THE STYLUS HOLE....will it make any kind of trouble??? please advise!!!

thanks a bunch in advance

try this one:
Hold your ppc upside down in one hand, raise it up high, swing your arm down really fast, and catch your swinging arm by the wrist using your free hand. Hopefully, the "shock" might shake it loose.

Good luck!

thanks for your reply. yet still no luck!!! what I'm concerned about now, is that if my device gets too hot (wifi usage, etc) it might melt the electrical tape? or maybe not as this is designed to support electrical heat???? please advise....

try wrapping some tape around a small thin stick (ie. meat skewer) and insert it into the stylus hole. It MIGHT stick onto the electrical tape.

I tried your suggestion and didn't work I almost got stuck the new piece of tape wraped around the end of the thin skewer to drag the older piece out..any other suggestions? do you know of any way to find out what the stylus hole inside is like? wired up-connected to the main device??? or just an empty hole, thus with nothing much to worry about??? please help!! (I've written to imate, ppcthechs and the mtekk.au forums too, but to no avail yet) thanks in advance guys

Have you tried a paper clip straightened out, they are rigid but also bendy enough to maybe/hopefully catch the tape.

P.S. electrical tape won't catch fire in the heat the PDA produces, heat produced by PDA is actually nothing compared to a PC.

thanks for the reply, advice and reassurance that nothing will happen to the tape with the possible heat that may come from the pda (with wifi use and otherwise) I was also hoping to get reassurance that the silo is separated from the mainboard in my PDA2K, unlike for example the ipaq 2215 where there is no cover between silo and mainboard and there have been cases of a stylus causing soft and hard resets....thanks a bunch again
