ActiveSync Connection Error - Help Please!!!

Hi guys,

I'm in the UK so apologise is anything I write doesn't make sense in a US context (eg phone names).

I've got a T-Mobile MDA Pro (An HTC rebranded phone). Suddenly, for no reason I can discern, it no longer syncs using ActiveSync. Specifically, what is happening is that I run the connection wizard and the "Get Connected" window displays "Your device was not detected" after trying all the ports. But in the same window next to the USB port it says "Connected".

The problem must be to do with some setting on the PC as I've just had the phone replaced and the same error occurs.

Any help gratefully received!!

Have you checked your firewall to see if that could be causing the problem? Disable your firewall and then try to sync.

Yup, tried turining off the firewall but it made no difference.

Activesync Help!!!

Julie, did you ever figure this out? I have the exact same problem, I have done everything I could find regarding the firewall (and then some!), and I still can't create a partnership...it just connects me as "guest" and therefore I cannot sync my outlook contacts or calendar, which are the most important to me!

I am very familiar with IPAQ pocket pcs and not so familiar with other brands such as HTC rebranded devices, such as the one the original poster has. But on IPAQ devices that are running WM5.0, there is another potential solution. Prior to WM5.0, sycning was performed via USB Serial Sync Mode. With WM5.0, the default mode of syncing is via RNDIS. With WM5.0 IPAQ, HP provides an ActiveSync mode switch that allows users to change the default mode from RNDIS back to USB Serial Sync Mode. This is the only way I have been able to sync my hw6925 with my computer.

Do you know if you have this option?
