Depending on your budget and reasons for getting the PDA you might want to investigate tablest or dual laptops/tablets.

These units are usually running XP and can run all windows programs as well as being controled with a pen ( or keyboard ).

If I had the money to blow my next PC would be a tablet. I really don't need much more than 900mhz for 95% of the stuff I do, and I could always get a TS for the rest of the work if necessary, unfortunatly tablets are still way too expensive for what you get.

I agree, a 1ghz prosser with 256megs of ram,and a 20-30gb hard drive is a tad low for 2,500$;)

Well I've had the Axim for 4 days and its absolutely super.
It does all I want - Excel spreadsheets are fully compatible up to now as they are on my laptop.
It feels good and its quick. The scroll button on the side is very useful and although it seems to have more complexity it is easier to use once you get familiar with it.

I now need to look for a compact flash modem and an SD Ram card (can I go upto 256Mb or is it limited at 128?).

Yup, it was a good decision to change from the TT, it worked for me and I am extremely happy. It also looks more girly, but not out of place for a bloke either. I really think for the price there is nothing else to beat it at the moment.

Any size sd card will work on the axim.

There will soon be a 1gb sd card soon.

There are 8,16,32,64,128,256,512,1000 mb sd cards out.

Any of them will work with the axim.

Also try to stay away with sandisk brand if possible.;)

I have to comment here - what do you mean stay away micah? You flamed me and claimed I didn't know what I was talking about when I suggested people stay away from a certain brand...

anyhow, whats the problem with scandisk? I've had good luck with them in both my Ax and 1910...

my mistake - never heard of sandisk. Thought it read scandisk. Just wanted an explanation of why you didn't like scandisk - didn't mean to get your panties all in a bunch. But, since you said sandisk - I was wrong.

Hey, guys let it fizzle out eh?

I did see the comments re Sandisk cards (thank you for repeating them for me). It seems that all the cheapies on Ebay are Sandisk anyway.

Some people seem to use them ok, others not. I think I'll either get another brand or buy a Sandisk that guarantees compatability or return.

I was looking for a compact flash modem - the Billington fits the bill but that will limit my use by the extent of the wire.

Is there a bluetooth telephone access point available - ie plugs into the mains and the phone line allowing me to roam my shop with my Axim whilst being connected to the internet?

All solutions gratefully received.
