Okay,
First - You can get the "Encarta Pocket Dictionary" (which is brilliant, by the way - huge, but brilliant) from:
http://www.microsoft.com/reader/downloads/default.asp
As for eBooks - anywhere! Go to Barnes and Noble:
http://www.microsoft.com/reader/downloads/default.asp
Or Amazon
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...437838-3955239
You can also search for the book you're looking for on Google and add "eBook" to the end of the search, should find most bestsellers online.
AND, on top of that, if you're looking for classics, check "Project Gutenberg" - brilliant collection of amazing classics (Such as "Of Human Bondage" by Maugham) in TXT format. Not horribly pretty, but you can convert it to Microsoft Reader format!
That's located here:
http://promo.net/pg/index.html
HTH! Let me know if there's any other questions I can answer for you... Oh, and don't forget about Audio Books! Great if you drive a lot.

So how big is big? What is the meg size? Also, went to the link for the audio books and there is a deal, something like $7.50 for the month. What I don't get is the "player" or is there no player/driver and you just use windows media player?
thanks for your prompt reply

Big - Just over 2 megs, and a worthy additon for reading eBooks.
As for the Audio Books, sorry - SKIP using Barnes and Noble, instead go to:
http://www.audible.com/
They are specifically geared towards playing music on an MP3 player and have multiple audio formats (WMA, MP3) and multiple levels of quality for those books. I've heard many good things about the company, so it couldn't hurt to check them out.
Also, if you want, search through the forums here and I think you'll find a lot of good feedback on what they offer.
Let me know if you need anything else.
Thanks,
NIck

andsoitgoes, you have been so helpful that I am embarrassed to ask this, here it goes. So I downloaded the dictionary in \mydocuments\dictionary. Opened it up in microsoft reader (remember, it is not activated) and I get the dictionary. Don't I tap "look up definition" , second window comes up and I type/write in a word. After that, what do I do? I tap elsewhere and it doesn't look up the word...am I missing something?
Thanx again for your help

I know, activating can be a pain!
What you should do is open up a current eBook (one of the books you got with your Axim should work) and get ready for the SUPER COOL part...
Click once on a word, ANY word, and select "Lookup" - immediately a definition box will pop up from within Reader and give the definition.
IT IS WAY cool, probably one of the best things MS has ever created, which of course isn't saying too, too much ;)
And I'm just glad i could help! Please, if you have any other questions - just post 'em, we'll help! Promise!

Fascinating. So what if you want to look up a word but not from an ebook? Can you look up on the fly?

Unfortunately it only works *within* Reader. I'd like to find an application that would be able to do "on-the-fly" lookups like that, but I don't think it would be that possible... There are some dictionary programs I'm looking through, however... so who knows!
