I am trying to copy files from my laptop to my Dell through Windows explorer. Everytime I try to drag a file over to my SD card, I get a black circle with a slash through it and wont let me copy files over...

How do I handle this.

I get the same no-access circle with a diagonal line. i don't why it won't let you drag 'n drop, but it probably has sumthing to do with the pda conversion utility that pops up when i cut and paste.

in further detail, i "cut" the files by highlighting and using a right-click, then click on the destination folder, and right-click "paste" them files into place.

That works everytime.

Just remember that if you do not want to completely lose the file, choose copy instead of cut.

I've run into this phenomenon with other PDAs, as well. I think that ActiveSync makes no assumptions about the state of the PDA's file system and usually won't permit the drag-and-drop file copy. The suggested solution (right-click, copy, left-click, right-click, paste) works just fine.

A small trick: Open Explore in Activesync, go to the directory in which you want the file to be put. Leave that window open and open another window on the laptop and find the file you want to move. Now drag'n'drop will work between the windows.

Apparently, the laptop version of file explorer can only find directories that Activesync has found when you open Explore in Activesync. You don't actually HAVE to be in the window you want it go to get the laptop explorer to see the directory structure on the Axim, but it's easy enough to do and makes the drag'n'drop clean.
