I read somewhere on one of the Axim boards, that somebody installed ActiveSync 3.6 first and then browsed to the Axim driver location on the CD when connecting the Axim to the PC for the first time.

Has anybody done this? I'm one of those that hates to load older programs when a new one is available, just because the older program has a proprietary driver built into it.

Thanks.

Well I figured it out. I installed ActiveSync 3.6. I connected the Axim to my PC. When the window popped up, I browsed to D:\MS\ACTSYNC\Main\Core\Inf, where D: is my CD drive. It worked perfectly.

If memory serves, the driver can also be found in the root folder of the Axim CD.

That's the first place I looked. When selecting the root directory, the "OK" would light up as if the directory contained a good driver. The OS would then say it did not contain drivers for the device. I thought for sure I would have to install the entire 3.5 package. I just kept searching through every directory and found the correct spot.
