how do I make a registry change?

I've been trolling the forums for help with my x51 not turning on (white screen) and found this helpful fix

except I don't know how to make the change in the registry of my Dell and it doesn't appear to be in the registry of my computer

Install Total Commander (freeware), and you can use the registry editor in it.

Not to sound foolish, but where does one get into the registry editor with TC??? I see the plugin for it but don't know how to access it.

Any help would be appreciated.

When you launch it, double tap the \\ at the top. You will then see the registry folder.
