I have a Garmin eTrek Legend GPS receiver and a Dell Axim and have just received a cable to connect them. I haven't had success yet. The pda searches for the gps but never finds it. Any suggestions on settings, sequence of turning on units, etc?

- Make sure that NMEA is "on" on your Legend
- It might be worth checking the Garmin manual but I seem to remember that it works on a certain baud rate only: try 4800 and 9600 and make sure that whatever you use, the software on the Axim is set to the same
- Make sure you're using the right cable. Might sound stoopid but from my experience a normal "serial" connection doesn't work. You need to connect it via a "null modem": where pins 2 and 3 are crossed over. Null Modem
