Can anybody tell me what infrared receive does and how you use it? I heard it's so you can use your handheld without the cradle to connect to the comp. Can anybody tell me if this is true or what steps I need to take to do that? Thanks for your help guys ^_^

Today at the mall I ran into this gorgeous girl who used to work at my office. She had a Siemens phone/pocket pc combo device and we tried swapping contacts via the IR. We could not get it to work. DAMN!

I had to use the stylus. B)

well my Toshiba laptop has an IR port. All i do is set my X5 IR port inline with my Toshiba IR port and on my X5 i go to start > activesync, then at the bottom of the screen i go to tools > connect via IR. This works very well, but beware this will only work if your devices are within probably a foot of each other. Also note, the device you are connecting to will generally pop up and ask if you want to receive the transmission, obviously say yes.

This also works on my laptop. In ActiveSync on the laptop I set the connection settings to allow serial or IR connection and then select "connect via IR" in ActiveSync on the Axim.

Anybody know why HP bothers putting the IR thingy on their printers? It seems like a pain in the neck to use with a pocketpc...It would be so handy to just aim it at the printer and print out a phone number or something. I suppose I could install another program on the pocketpc, but that takes away valuable room from other things...

I use a neat little program from HP which allows me to print files from my AXIM to the HP 2000d in the office.

I don't know about beaming individual phone numbers (etc).
