Start Menu

For no apparent reason my "Start" menu only gives me the options of "Today", "Pocket MSN", "Programs" and "Settings". When I click programs, the only ones on offer are "Games" and "Pocket MSN"

I've tried a soft reset and various attemts at Syncing.

Any help would be appreciated.? a hard reset?

Thanks

Are you using aa Taskbar enhancer like Wisbar Advance?

Try this if you're not. Click on Start > Settings > Menus and see what's available to be checked. I think the llimit is
7 items/programs for the stock Start menu.

I can't be much more spefic, but I had carried out several procedures, using several applications. The speed seemed to slow dramatically and then the system locked and would do nothing. A total freeze. I did a soft re-set and the symptoms described in my first post appeared. The programs are still there or at least some of them are but bizarrely the record button, gives me the list of "Notes". I cannot access backup, media player and several other applications. Active/Sync has worked but I have lost everything I did today. Apologies but I cannot remember precisely what the sequence of events were that preceded the problem. I have contacted Dell support (UK) but the phone wait was estimated to be 30 minutes.

Thanks for your interest.

When I click Start, Settings and Menu, the only available options are "Games" and "Pocket MSN", neither of which are ticked.

I am not using the taskbar mentioned.

I have tried several soft resets.

Thanks again

Well after that thirty minute wait they'll probably ask you to do a hard reset so first let's try a "fake" one. While holding down the power button, insert your stylus in the soft reset slot until you see hard-reset options on the screen. Click on No and see if things look better after that. If they don't, Repeat the procedure but say yes at the hard-reset screen.

Thanks for the assistance, BUT, when I did as you suggested, there were no option buttons to press,ie no "Yes" & "No" or whatever. After some time and thought I pressed a button to try to get options and it caried on with a screen alignment procedure. I guess this is a hard re-set.
Still, I can use the thing now, back to square one then.

As they say in the North of England "Ta Muchly". (Thank you very much. :)
