My Docs backup and restore issue

I am definately a newbie to the forums, so please be gentle.

I consider myself a fairly experienced user.
I backup my X50v frequently using the backup utility that came with it to an SD card AND via ActiveSync to my desktop.
I now see that restore is an all or nothing proposition.
Is there a utility out there capable of opening those backups and doing selective restore.

I have a single file that got messed up but I do not want to risk further agrevation by loosing other data and still not getting my file back.

Now that I think about it, do either of those backups handle files in "My Docs"?

Any ideas?

Or should this question be posted to another forum?

Reply to myself

I have to say I am a little disappointed. I can see where many folks have seen my message, but NONE have attempted a reply. At least none that I could tell. At the least I would have hoped for a "dude you are up the creek" response. But I got nothing.

I have read the Aximsite forums for a while and found that most of the time the advice given was usually helpful or at least able to give pointers in a viable direction.

My first venture into this world was met with silence.

I will continue to use the Aximsite, but with lower expectations.

Maybe I will even begin to put in my 2 cents worht from time to time. Usually someone else has already given the same or better advice to some newbie than I could have, but at least I will have tried....

BTW, I was able to finally figure out a solution on my own problem. I ran an ActiveSync backup to my desktop of the existing state. I then disabled all sync modules and performed an Axim level restore from the built-in backup. I copied the 1 needed file over to my SD card and re-connected to my desktop. Since the sync modules were all de-selected I did not need to worry about problems with sync'ing to an "old" copy of my data. I then ran the desktop (ActiveSync) restore to send my x50v back into the current time frame. The it was just a matter of deleting the "corrupted file" and copying the "restored" one in its place and re-selecting the modules to resume data sync.
