axim won't connect
I installed active sync 4.1 ( it upgraded when I put in the getting started disc)
I connected the cradle to the pc to the usb port, turned on the ppc and put it in the cradle. A pop up on my pc came up saying new hardware found, cannot connect.
What did I do wrong? Should the axim be able to connect to active sync? I don't have a network setup yet. The router will be arriving next week. could that be why?
When activesync was upgrading on the pc, a window said that outlook is not the default client, and that I should make it default. But isn't for mail. I have other mail accounts. I don't use outlook.
And when I connect the cradle to the pc, do I also need to plug the ac power adapter into an outlet to? :hide:

Check your firewall setting to see whether activesync is "blocked". Unblock ActiveSync and see if it works.
If not, try this
1. Open ActiveSync first and don't put your Axim in the cradle yet
2. Go to file-Connection setting
3. Click the connect button near the top
4. Try putting your Axim in the cradle and see if it starts to connect.
5. If not, disconnect your Axim and click next. Then, place the Axim in the cradle which ActiveSync is in process of searching for a device.
Anyway, google for ActiveSync troubleshoot guides if all of the above fails.

Yeah, it was the firewalls. I had realized that right after I posted. After disabling the firewalls, the axim was able to connect :)
Thank you,
Kimmi

Hello,
I am having the exact problem as above....
I tried everything...nothing work...can someone help?
axim x51v
active sync 4.1
When plugged in, it just kept on saying "connecting"....
I worked before...but all the sudden, it stopped connecting (a few days after the fake server trick). How do I fix this? Thanks.

Activesynch won't connect - windows Hijacks PDA
I installed everything in the correct sequence but Windows detected the X51v and installed it independently.
Activesynch won't connect but keeps trying!
Every time I reconect the PDA Windowsjust hijacks it immediately as "Found new hardware"
Even worse - the PDA icon appears in My Computer but when I click on it nothing appears, just an empty folder, no properties etc.
Anyone have a clue what went wrong?
Nick

1. Try uninstalling and installing AS properly. Remove all previous partnerships. Try guest.
2. Try Microsoft's AS troubleshooting guide
3. Make sure firewall is not blocking AS
4. Call Dell, they might know why, but I doubted it.
If all fails, hard-reset the device. This usually works in my case.

How about hard-reset your Axim too? Did you try it?
Ask Dell for a refund if everything fails.

Man, i spent like 4-5 hours installing all the apps...kinda hard to take that route but i guess i have no choice now... :(
Yes, i make backup but if i can't connect to desktop to install the backup app into the new system after the hard reset (Sprint backup), I can't restore... (that is if activesync doesn't work after hard reset)... :(

Yep...a hard reset solved the connecting issue....everything is working now.
Fortunately, I was able to find a backup that I made 15 days or so ago before the problem that has all the apps i installed....put that back in and i'm back in business again (for now)...Thanks for all your help.
