Screen flashes when syncing from a cable

The screen flickers between the dimmer "battery" setting and the brighter "external power" settings when the unit is hooked up to the syncing cable. This does not occur in the cradle.

Will this flicker hurt the unit?
Does the USB cable also charge the unit, but at an intermittent rate, thus the flicker?

Thanks, Jerry

Welcome to Aximsite!

This means the device is not getting enough power from the USB port and is alternating between battery and external power source (i.e., USB). The flickering occurs because you have the screen brightness set at different levels for battery vs. external power. If you want to avoid this, only sync/charge when the battery is almost/completely charged up. For more info, there is a stickied thread on USB sync chargers in the X50/X51 Accessories forum.
