Hi,
Can't wait for my 400Mz Axim I ordered yesterday ....!!! 1- Could anybody tell me where I can find info on the GPS capability of Axim in association with the GPS CompactFlash Kit) ? 2- Has anybody any GPS experience on Axim? 3- Is it easy to find maps, for France for example? 4- Would-it better to buy a Garmin (or equivalent) instead of adding GPS capability to Axim ? Merci Michel KSEA

I'm using a CF30 GPS, about 200$ Cdn and it works beautifully with Pocket Streets from MS, if you purchase the Europe version of Streets and Trip, all you need to do is capture the area you need to travel, upload to your Axim after installing the free Pocket Street and your in business.

MichelAF,
You may find the following Aximsite thread filled with some more GPS information: Aximsite->Axim General Forums->General Axim Talk->Best GPS for Axim X5 I am also looking into obtaining GPS Technology for use with the Axim. So far, it seems to me, that the most efficient (i.e., cost, ease of use, simplest, etc.) way is to utilize the CF slot for one of the many CF GPS cards, and to utilize the SD slot for memory storage for maps. There are many to choose from. I think the first thing you have to do is set a price limit, and then go from there. See what has the best value for your pricerange. Apperently, you must be somewhat good at that, because you purchased an Axim! Best value out there!!!! Software..... It seems that the "better" receivers come packaged with some intuitive mapping software. Some even employs voice directions, which seems very usefull if you are driving in a car by yourself (and also would have a pretty high rating on the "nifty" scale too! B) ) Another option is to use Microsoft Streets & Trips 2003, which is available for less than $40, and it includes Pocket Streets, which supports GPS. You can attach any reciever, and wha-la (at least that is what Microsoft says.....I haven't tried it myself because I don't have a receiver). Good luck! Don't forget to share with us what you find out.
