The easiest way i've found is to firstly download gs finder...freeware and excellent, using this program, navigate to your tom tom folder and make a shortcut of the program .exe, then simply paste it to your windows/startup folder, i use this for any programs i wish to auto start as it remains intact after a soft reset... hope this helps

That won't work for what he's asking...that simply starts your app on soft reset, but if you close it and then turn the axim on some time later, the app is still closed.
PeteC, I'd recommend you just map Tomtom to a less important button than power just in case there are moments when you'd like to turn the unit on without having tomtom getting in your way. Another possibility is just to try and not close tomtom when you turn the PDA off. The Tomtom app might not be very happy about that, but it might work.

I have the opposite of this problem. If i perform a soft reset tomtom 5 is show in the bottom right hand corner and starts loading. it's not in the startup folder. is there a registry that i need to change. if this was xp i could change it in seconds but am not familiar with pda stuff.

It's ok, i found that a folder with an 'autorun' on the memory card was causing it to do this!

I uninstalled a program recently and after a soft reset, WM5 still tried to run it. There is no shortcut in the Startup folder (first place I checked). However I can't find the equivalent of XP's Run and RunOnce registry keys.. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Thanks for the post and checked that key. Now this is strange.. I just performed a soft reset and the offending program did not start, I checked again in the init key and nothing stood out. Whatever the problem was it appeared to have corrected itself (and I can no longer think of what the executable was)
:)
