Does it shutdown?

Well does the Axim really shutdown? Or does it just enter some form of a sleep mode? Just recieved an X50v and this is my first PDA so I am still trying to figure things out.

Cheers

It is put into a type of sleep mode. If you are using wm2003se, all the programs and data that you put on there are stored in the ram. All the programs, etc that came with the ppc are in the rom. If the axim were to shut down all the ram would be erased. Although this would save battery life, things arent done this way on wm2003se. The x50v can be upgraded to wm2005 (DONT DO IT!) But if it already is, the concept i described above is different on the 2005 os.

In a nutshell? Keep the batteries charged in your X50v.

And, one more very smart item! Backup first opportunity!
The ActiveSync backup works well but, I prefer Sprite Backup!

Welcome to the forums!

Thanks for the info. I am in fact using WM2003SE and have no plans, as of yet, to upgrade to WM5. I was just curious as to why the Axim
had no 'shutdown' option. Thank you Spunker88 and Tankman for your timely responses.

Cheers

On the X51 (WM5) you can tell the unit to fully power down when you press and hold the power button, I don't know if this is the same on the X50 though.

It shouldn't be able to, as that would be loss of all data stored in the internal memory...
