Axim turning on by itself

Hi,

I went on a business trip last week, and fortunately I brought the charger with me, because most of the time, when I took my Axim out of the case it was turned on! and the Battery depleted to its minimum. As suggested in another thread, I turned off sound notifications and disabled being able to turn on the Axim with the command buttons. I am wondering if its the Dell Case triggering the power button or if it is something else. in one occassion, I turned off the Ax while playing Age of Empires, and next time I saw it, it was on... very annoying. Also, I've noticed that some times the notifications turn on the Ax and little bell icons begin accumulating at the bottom of the Today screen.

Any clue to avoid this from happening will be greatly appreciated...

Thanks,

Mao

Do you have any alarms set?

As for the case, that could be a problem. Look for a hard case such as the Rhino that might protect it better.

I would make sure you dont have any alarms set on your ax Also try and disable the buttons that will illiminate chances of that. I found with my ax it was turning itself on turns out it was ActiveSynch It was looking to connect to the PC to sych up. When you are done syching close down the Activesych program see if that helps. Also doing so will free up memory and save battery useage. Activesych will restart when you put in the craddle so you dont need to worry about that. The only bug ive found is sometimes i have to drop it in the craddle 2 times for it to sych if i shut off active sych. No biggie though.

In ActiveSync tap Stop, goto Tools, tap the Schedule tab, and uncheck the 'When connected to my PC..' & When not connected to my PC' boxes. Don't worry the Ax will still sync when cradled or power cycled, best of all it will not sync unless you cradle it which keeps the ax off.

I was just sitting here at my desk and out of the corner of my eye I saw a light come on, and sure enough it's my Axim. No alarms are set. It wasn't trying to sync. Nothing. It just came on. I'm considering sending this one back...

I heard that all ppc turn on at midnight to get set for the next day. Maybe that is what happened?

I have the same problem when it is in the case. I am now trying to send my Dell case back. It happens to me all the time. Already purchased a Rhino.

In another thread someone mentioned that the Axim might turn on by itself at midnight every night. I just set my clock to 11:59 and waited a minute and sure enough it came on. I guess this explains my situation. I don't know if this is the same case for everyone, but it might help. I guess I need to make sure mine is set to shut off after a short period of time. I don't really care for this "feature." Just seems like a way to waste the battery. Also if my Axim is in it's case and something is touching the screen, who knows what it could be doing by itself.

Wow, great thread..I had the same issue. I alsso noticed that after powering off my pc and turning off my axim when leaving work, it would all of a sudden (maybe a few minutes later) turn itself on, and I noticed that it had the active sync application still "on"). I think this is dirctly related to the ealier message (".....I found with my ax it was turning itself on turns out it was ActiveSynch It was looking to connect to the PC to sych up....).

So, now I make sure I turn off active sync AND i unchecked the box under tools saying that it should sync with the server every 5 minutes
