I have a feeling it has something to do with Installshield. A while back, I upgraded to Windows XP, and next time I ran something that used Installshield as a setup, I had to modify some registry entries. Does anybody know a site, or know themselves, all the registry entries that InstallShield uses to store it's information?

You don't have a pop-up stopper active, do you?
I seem to remember that CD uses HTML format, so pop-up stoppers see it as something trying to open a new browser window.
I believe my W2k pro also asks me if I want to run/install as adninistrator. Say no and run it as your user name.

Well, I do have a pop-up stopper activated. However when I called Dell about my problem, they told me to take everything out of my startup (the pop-up killer included) and that still didn't help. My other computer also has the same pop-up killer and it works fine on that other computer.
Also, I can get to that window. The problem I have is that once I run the setup, it gives me a busy cursor for a few seconds, and then nothing happens. The program still runs; it shows an is_setup.exe in the background.
I have tried
downloading both ActiveSync 3.1, 3.5, and 3.6. 3.1 will install perfectly on my computer. This is probably because it uses an older version of InstallShield. For both 3.5 and 3.6, it shows a "Files extracting..." dialog in the corner, extracting the files for the setup, but never actually runs the setup.

Some details, please. On the machine it runs, operating system, firewalls, popup stoppers, network, USB variation. On the machine it doesn't run, same stuff. Must be something between them that's killing the app.

It's running on an Athlon XP 1.4ghz, Windows XP professional, no firewall, pop-up stopper is on, there's a wireless network, and I'm not sure what you mean by USB variation, but I think you mean the version so it's 1.1.
The machine it isn't running on is an Athlon 1.0ghz, Windows XP professional, pop-up stopper is off, there's a wireless network, and USB 1.1.
Once again though, I believe it has something to do with InstallShield, so if anyone has any information, please help.
Thank you.
