UK/USA - Using Axim between the two countries

A friend of mine is buying me an Axim in the States. I live in the UK. Are there any power cable issues? Will a modem bought over there work here in the UK? Any advice welcome. (I'm getting the 400Hz with cradle apparently).

The power adapter is dual voltage so you should have no prob. Probably need a plug adapter depending on your outlets.
Other cables should be fine over there (standard serial/USB cradle). I don't see any problem with CF modem. Just make sure the settings are set for your area.

ceej13,

I have a US axim and am a UK national and hence travel back to the UK a lot. I use a Targus V90 modem.

You need to by a new plug lead for the Dell power adaptor (which is rated 100-240V. These are the standard twin (no earth) leads that come with most radios/boom boxes etc.

The modem worked straight out of the box. You need to change the dialing settings in 'connection' as they are set for US dialing. Also you need to by a new phone connection cable as the modem will have a US connection cable and not a BT type plug. I went into Dixons and bought a US to BT adaptor (7GBP).

All works a treat.
