The Nooby Wish List - Does it exist?

Hi Folks

Well I am certainly an Axim noob.... Only on day 3.

I'll admit I haven’t RTFM (Read the #@5! manual). but I don’t think I will find the answers to these wish list items there anyway. But maybe someone here can steer me in the right direction :)

Noob Wish List:

#1 Auto / Quick (single tap) swap screen orientation.

I love having the option of going from portrait to landscape on the Axim, but I have noticed that quite often I have to change orientation as I skip between apps, what suits one doesn’t suit another, it’s very dull and slow having to go to the screen applet, select and confirm the change. I would love a software widget that on one tap switched screen mode… I would even be prepared to use a hardware button I think it would be that useful.

#2 Outlook syncs with my PC and downloads the first 1k or so of emails. Sensible I know, but it seems to fail to get the whole of even short ones! Is there any setting between download header and full emails, so for example I could auto download all that were less than 6k?

Thanks for listening to the noob…

Cheers Peter

For 1) Go to Setting menu, select Personal tab, then Buttons. Here you can asign a button to al kinds of things, e.g. Rotate Screen. Any good? There's lots of other ways you can also add an icon on your desktop so you can click to change the rotation. RTFM, as you said!

Damn it, Now I have to read the manual

Perfect, in fact for me it kills two birds with one stone, I seem to be forever hitting record a message when taking the Axim out of the cradle. thanks for that :) Now what about my email problem?

I know... go and read the manual :approve:

I think that your best bet with Email is to use another program other than the defaul Outlook email client. Go to WebIS website and try out FlexMail. I use it and it is a really great program. It gives you more options when downloading email.

Hope this helps. :)

Hmmm actually I have a follow up question on that :)

Ok… I just received my Dell exec wireless BT keyboard today and I have to say I am really impressed. Really nice to use and packed full of features and shortcuts…. Except the one I want, can you tell what it is yet?

As you know I set up my record button to <RotateScreen>

But having played with the keyboard and Applet *and reading the keyboard manual* I cant see how to either replicate that button or assign <Rotate Screen> to a hot key as it doesn’t appear in the menus as a command.

I know I could invoke the screen program to change it but having had a one press solution when using the Axim by hand I want to try and achieve the same when using the keyboard.

Eternal thanks promised for a quick keyboard solution.

Cheers Peter
