So there I was, about to panic thinking I'd messed up my week old 51v. I just installed my Invisible shield yesterday and let it sit for a few hours. I know the video said 24 hours, but I wanted to play with my new toy. I turned it on and it started fine, but then I couldn't get the touchscreen or any buttons to work. Temporary moment of panic as my heart stopped, thinking I'd just f*d up my new toy. I know I tried to be careful when I was putting the shield on, but I'm sure I got it a little too wet. I started thinking that maybe I really did need to wait the full 24 hours and then everything would be OK. Later that evening I put the Axim in the cradle and it synched fine. So it could synch but I still couldn't do anything with the Axim itself. I made myself set it aside and wait until this morning. Still not quite 24 hours, but I'm just not that patient. Still no change :realmad: . Now I'm searching through all the posts that say anything about invisible shield and trying to figure out how I'm going to talk to Dell about getting a replacement for my f*d up Axim, when I discover the real problem: Somehow in the process of putting the shield on, I inadvertently slid the lock button up. Technology can be so frustrating at times.
to the lock button club. we've all been there, even if some of us don't admit it

The lock button embarrasement? I don't want to talk about it. LOL. Somebody should start a support group. But have it in a place where the doors can't lock, otherwise we'll never get in.
You're not stupid. It happens to more people than you would think. It has never happened to me though... Look on the bright side. At least it wasn't something worse. It could have always been worse.
Don't feel stupid - that lock button is not common on PDA's (or at least I don't remember one being on any of my previous units). That's happened to me a time or two ... I was almost to the point of a hard-reset on mine before I (thankfully) realized that I'd done that!

Yep, been there ... done that ... numerous times (usually at the rate of about once per month)!!! I've done it enough now that I remember to check the lock button every time my Axim is non-responsive - after that initial fleeting moment of "Oh s**t!"

Thanks to PocketBrain for bringing the parrot to life!! :)
My latest "oops" was similar, but of course, Dell should fix this situation.
My CF card disappeared from my Axim and I was in panic mode b/c I thought my new 4 GB CF card was dead! But it was just the stupid CF disappearing that happens sometimes, I just had to soft reset to see the CF again. So apparently it happens sometimes even if you've done the Fake Server Trick! :|

I have begun to habitually lock my Ax when using the 3300mAH battery, so I don't have trouble remembering (anymore) to unlock it prior to panic setting in, but my liver has undergone some slight trauma as my wife punches me everytime she borrows it with the lock button on.
