Idiot alert stop

Everytime I turn off my X51v I get that message that asks me if i am sure that I want to do this because I will lose all my data. How do I turn that message off?

It sounds like you are using the 'Full Power Off' feature on the PPC rather than the 'normal off' that is equivalent to a sleep mode (you should not get this warning with the normal shutdown aka sleep mode).

I personally don't see much need for using the Full Power Off unless you are going to be away from the Axim for an extended period. Just keep the unit connected to the AC adapter overnight and use the normal version of off.

Thanks for not helping. Is there anyone who knows how to make it stop?

Go into Settings/system/power and go to the Power Button tab on the far right and set the "When pressing and holding the Power button, you can:" to "unassign" Either that or just tap the power button to turn off instead of holding it.

If that doesn't help let us know but remember that it pays to be polite on boards. If you are rude to people who try to help you they won't bother trying any more.

Sorry

Since the answers remain unhelpful it must mean I am not being clear. Sorry.

I want to be able to use the full power off feature. I use it frequently because it suits the way I use my Ax. What I want is a way to disable the notification that follows after I press and hold the button.

I press full power off and I always get the idiot reminder asking me if I am sure I want to do this as I will lose any unsaved data. I then have to tap the screen.

So how do I use the feature and stop the notification?

I hope this is clearer.

Consider just hitting the button, seems like more trouble then it is worth to get it turned off. Just think is it really that bad?

Reminds me of the old joke about the guy who goes into the doctors office and complains when he pokes himself and asks the doctor how to make the pain go away and the doctor says "stop doing that".

PDAs and laptops are designed to be put into a sleep mode inbetween uses. This allows them to power up quickly so you can use them almost instantly. They are only meant to be powered down during long periods of inactivity.

Now even if you could get rid of the warning at shutdown, you are still wasting considerable time at startup, most likely much more than the few quick seconds it takes to accpet the shutdown warning. And the time spent waiting for it to power up several times a day probably uses up more batter life than the small trickle of power that it draws while in sleep/standby mode.

If you use your axim at least a few times throughout the day then there is really no advantage to doing a full poweroff, and there are probably more disadvantages doing so. If you use it less than that, then the shutdown warning should not impact your usage that much.

So follow the doctors advice and "stop doing that". You are better off not doing a full power off.

Thanks of the insightful reply. Yes, I do use my Axim only a few times a day. However, I have found that if I do not do the full power off it drains my battery charge ( I have done the fake server trick) so that by the time I turn it on again I have almost no charge left (like 20%).

Your reply seems to be suggesting that this should not be happening. Maybe I have a defective machine.
