Newby needs help with email
Howdy folks - kudos to this great site. Hoping someone is able to provide a newby (x51v - just bought it and pretty impressed so far) with some assistance setting up email.
I have outlook 2003 (fully updated) on my PC set up with gmail's pop settings. Email downloads to outlook absolutely fine.
I was able to set up the email sync feature with the PDA pretty easily (ie. email sent to gmail --> downloaded to PC --> sync'ed to PDA). It seems to work fine, all the folders I choose to sync seem to transfer across simply and I have access to all those important emails anytime I need! Brilliant!
What I was hoping to be able to do was set up the PDA to access gmail through pop from places away from home, and then sync the emails back to my PC the other way (ie. email sent to gmail --> downloaded to PDA --> sync'ed to PC), but don't seem to be having any luck so far.
I was able to set up the gmail account on the PDA pretty easily (outlook email --> tools --> new account) - it even automatically detected the right settings for gmail (who'd have thought...).
The problem is I now have two email accounts/inboxes on the PDA - one "Outlook Email" (where sync'ed items from my PC go) and one "Gmail" (where items I download direct from gmail end up). What I want to achieve is they all end up in one inbox. To make matters worse, when I then sync with the PC, all the files in the "Gmail" inbox mysteriously disappear.
Hoping someone can help with this. Basically I want one inbox on PC and PDA that sync depending on which one downloaded the email last. Not sure if I can do this or not? If so, any advice on how to achieve it?
If not, any advice on alternatives? Just access webmail directly from both PC and PDA?
