With headphones, just depends on the quality of the mp3 & the headphones - works great for me, I also use the ax in the car with a cassette adaptor through the stereo. Enjoy!

grab your self withmp3 for the best mp3 player.

in my experience, sound through the headphones varies wildly with different models/brands....ive settled on a pair of panasonic foldable headphones that deliver the best sound from all i tried.

I have tried several different headphones and speaker set ups...the best headphones that I have found are a pair of Phillips flexible headbuds that are very comfortable while wearing. They sound GREAT and the cost is only around $10. I also use the Axim while plugged in to my Altec Lansing speakers and the sound is fantastic...

But, as stated before, probably best to try some and see what you like best...

Alright here ya go...

I have an Irock Mp3 player with 128MB built in and 128MB MMC card and I use some Aiwa behind the neck headphones. The Irock has a bass boost that is awesome so it wins out in sound quality.

However,

I use pocketmusic (yes I bought the full version and am very pleased) and when you tweak the EQ settings it comes awful close to the Irocks quality with the bass boost on.
I use a pair of Sony earbuds that have their own little wind up case, about $10.

When I'm lifting in the gym the Irock is my best friend due to sheer sise, but the rest of the time I'll take the Pocketmusic and Axim.
Unless you are like me and hypersensitive to music quality you really won't know the difference.

Good Luck and Congratulations!

The way i see it, if it sounds good on your PC, then it will sound good on your Axim. Like bernie_rubber, I also use a cassette adapter for the car and it soundz real good .
